DOST secretary Fortunato dela Peña leads Supply Chain Outlook speakers
Fortunato dela Peña, secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, leads the roster of speakers at this year’s Supply Chain Outlook, happening on 8 February 2019, from 12nn to 4pm, at the Palawan Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City.
The event, which looks ahead at the issues set to affect the supply chain sector in the year ahead, will this time look at the role the industry plays in ensuring food security and resiliency.
dela Peña, who was named DOST secretary in 2016, joined the agency in 1982 and was named undersecretary in 2001. Throughout his time in the department he spearheaded initiatives on improving manufacturing processes, supporting small players and promoting e-government programs. He was also a member of the faculty of the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he graduated.
Also speaking at the event is Anthony Dizon, founding president of the Cold Chain Association of the Philippines. He is also president of Koldstor Centre Philippines and Ideamorphosis, companies involved in cold chain logistics.
Finally, REID Foundation’s Ronilo Balbieran returns to Supply Chain Outlook to present his economic outlook for 2019.
The event, which also serves as the organization’s first General Membership Meeting of 2019, will also feature the induction of SCMAP’s Board of Directors in 2019, led by Christine Pardiñas. She will be presenting the organization’s plans and thrusts for the coming year.
Registration for this year’s Supply Chain Outlook is now open to both SCMAP members and non-members. Pre-registration rates are at PHP 2,200 for members and PHP 2,400 for non-members; these only apply to those who register on or before 5pm of 6 February. Afterwards, registration fee is at PHP 2,500. This includes lunch and refreshments.
